ORIGIN

Origin of Olive Tree is unknown. It is said to have spread some 5000 years ago to Mediterranean basin from North Africa (fossils of 20-30000 BC), Near East/Asia (where wild trees were evident 12-15000 years ago), while fossils found in Santorini/Greece which examined by the carbon 14 test, found to be 50-60000 years old.
